چکیده
Abstract Background Pulmonary veins isolation (PVI) represents the main strategy for paroxysmal atrial fibrillation (AF) treatment. Due to poor clinical outcomes of PVI in case non–paroxysmal AF, significant efforts have been made develop new ablative strategies modify substrate. Up now, order characterise substrate, only bipolar voltage maps used and impedance mapping has never evaluated. Purpose Our aim is demonstrate potential correspondence among wall thickness, impedance. Atrial could represent an additional tool substrate characterization, providing further information on tissue conductive properties confirming analysis. Methods The study includes retrospective analysis 60 electro–anatomical (EA) patients with (40 patients) persistent (20 AF admitted our institution procedures performed support CARTO3 system. Map points collected Navistar RMT Thermocool ablation catheter enable evaluation values. To perform between map map, endocardial surface divided six sections. Before ablation, all a computed tomography evaluate thickness. Parameters interest that evaluated this are EGMs amplitude (mV) fractionation (> five deflections per signal) corresponding value (Ohm) at considered acquisition point. Results In PAF cases no voltages lower than 0.5 mV reported. values ranged from 140.6 169.9 Ohm, average 151.5 ± 5.4 Ohm. PsAF cases, instead, inferior 0.05 reported posterior wall, anterior roof 19/20 patients. these low areas, long duration fractionated signals dropped 129.1 3.8 ranging 110.2 Ohm 139.6 Conclusion supports association left This allows correct uncertain thanks provided by mapping.

Correlation between impedance cardiography and 6 min walk distance in atrial fibrillation patients
BACKGROUND The correlation between impedance cardiography (ICG) and 6 min walk distance (6MWD) in atrial fibrillation (AF) patients remains unknown. METHODS We recruited 49 subjects in the study (21 AF patients and 28 patients without AF) and estimated hemodynamic parameters: cardiac output (CO), stroke volume (SV), stroke volume index (SVI), left stroke work (LSW), left stroke work index (LS...
متن کاملHuman atrial fibrillation substrate: towards a specific fibrotic atrial cardiomyopathy.
The atrial structure/substrate of patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) and clinically similar characteristics can present very differently, and also the 'phenotype' (i.e. paroxysmal, persistent, and long standing persistent) of the arrhythmia cannot comprehensively explain these differences. It was unclear why some patients stay in paroxysmal AF for decades, whereas other patients with the sa...
متن کاملIn vivo contact force analysis and correlation with tissue impedance during left atrial mapping and catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation.
BACKGROUND The aim of this study was to evaluate in vivo contact force (CF) and the correlation of CF with impedance during left atrial 3-dimensional electroanatomical mapping and ablation. METHODS AND RESULTS CF during point-by-point left atrial mapping was assessed in 30 patients undergoing atrial fibrillation ablation. Operators were blinded to the real-time CF data. Data were analyzed acc...
متن کاملCorrelation between left atrial appendage morphology and flow velocity in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation.
AIMS Reduction of left atrial appendage (LAA) flow velocity (FV) is a risk factor for thrombus formation and increases the risk of stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). Furthermore, LAA morphology is correlated with stroke in patients with AF. The aim of this study was to correlate LAAFV with LAA morphology in patients with AF. METHODS AND RESULTS We studied 96 patients (age 59.0 ...
متن کاملEndocardial impedance mapping during circumferential pulmonary vein ablation of atrial fibrillation differentiates between atrial and venous tissue.
BACKGROUND Circumferential pulmonary vein ablation (CPVA) is an effective treatment for atrial fibrillation (AF). Accurate left atrial (LA) mapping is essential for creating lesions at the LA-pulmonary vein (PV) junction, avoiding PV stenosis. OBJECTIVES The purpose of this study was to establish whether endocardial impedance varies within the LA and PVs and whether it is a useful tool for ma...
